Thirsty Thursday gets a new option for quenching that thirst officially this week! State of Beer 2.0, as we’re calling it, welcomes y’all to the Morgan Street curve 11 a.m.-10 p.m., seven days a week. They’ll even feed you, too. How nice, right?!

From a press release…
The team behind Trophy Brewing have reimagined three bungalows situated along the distinctive curve of West Morgan Street. The first bungalow is now home to The Bend Bar, a cozy neighborhood spot serving local craft beers, wine and craft cocktails, which opened last month. The second bungalow houses the second location of State of Beer with an expanded menu. (The original State of Beer at 401 Hillsborough St. will continue to operate through at least late 2026.) Plans for the third bungalow are still to be determined.
Chris Powers, co-owner of Trophy Brewing, shared his excitement about the new menu options: “We’re thrilled to have the space and equipment to create a more unique and expansive food menu. With the addition of a full kitchen, complete with a hood, fryers and a flat top grill, we are introducing new items that we think our guests will love, like harissa dry rubbed wings, homemade mozzarella sticks and chicken cutlet sandwiches.”
The expanded menu includes:
- Double Fried Chicken Wings with Buffalo Sauce or Harissa Dry Rub.
- Housemade Mozzarella Sticks with marinara sauce.
- Loaded Beer-Battered French Fries with cheese, bacon and smoky jalapeño aioli.
- Hot Pimento Cheese Sandwich on sourdough bread.
- Chicken Cutlet Sandwich, available in two styles: Chicken Parmesan or Sweet Onion with cherry pepper relish, provolone and greens; served hot on a hoagie roll.
- Housemade Chocolate Chip Cookies.
State of Beer menu favorites also will be available, including the pimento cheese, Jive Turkey sandwich and the potato salad.
Guests can enjoy their meal alongside a curated selection of local craft beers, wines and a small selection of craft cocktails. The dining space features a seven-seat bar, two dozen indoor seats, a deck connecting the bungalows and equipped with patio heaters for year-round comfort. A spacious backyard offers fire pits and seating areas nestled among the trees.
The Trophy Brewing team, led by Powers and co-founders David “Woody” Lockwood and David Meeker, has been a fixture in Raleigh since 2008. Starting with the restoration of a downtown building at 225 S. Wilmington St. to open the Busy Bee Café, they expanded to craft beer production, small batch distilling and hospitality, while maintaining a commitment to preserving Raleigh’s architectural character. Key partners Les Stewart, chief brewing officer, and Rebecca Couch, chief operating officer, also joined the ownership team to support the company’s continued growth.
