Virgil’s Original Taqueria Taco Bar Opening in Downtown Raleigh

Downtown Raleigh restaurateur and bar operator Jon Seelbinder has done it again – creating a parent company to oversee all of his restaurants and bars and with that, also adding a new restaurant to the family. Local Icon Hospitality will now be the parent company over The Architect Bar and Social House, The Greenlight Bar, Linus and Pepper’s, The Level Up Kitchen and Barcadium, and his brand new restaurant coming to diners soon: Virgil’s Original Taqueria.

Virgil's Original Tacqueria taco bar in downtown RaleighVirgil’s Original Taqueria will be offering Downtown Raleigh diners a new option for comfort food: a taco bar! The restaurant will be providing a variety of tacos with a southern twist. Local Icon Hospitality is excited to announce that Virgil’s will be located downstairs in the Salisbury Street building and is opening this December. Virgil’s has more to offer Downtown Raleigh than just flavorful tacos: the restaurant will also be serving specialty cocktails to provide the perfect drink to go along with the food.

The Local Icon hospitality company in downtown RaleighLocal Icon Hospitality is cooking up more than a new taco bar in Downtown Raleigh. This past month, the hospitality group has announced its first executive chef: Andrew Klamar.

Chef Andrew Klamar joins Local Icon Hospitality from The Hermitage Hotel in downtown Nashville. Andrew grew up in New York where his father worked in the hospitality industry so Andrew’s passion to work in the culinary world began at a young age.

As an adult, Andrew moved to Charlotte, NC to pursue his culinary degree. After working in Charlotte for a few years his journey took him to Charleston, SC to work with the famous Sean Brock (of Husk) at McCradys. Training under Sean gave Andrew the skills and knowledge to advance his career and run the culinary program at The Hermitage Hotel.

Since joining Local Icon Hospitality Andrew has revamped The Level Up Kitchen + Barcadium and Linus and Pepper’s menus. Andrew will continue to keep our concepts fresh, exciting and on the cutting edge of the hospitality industry. Andrew promises to be dedicated, disciplined and loyal, providing consistency, value and great service to all our customers.

And in 2016, the company plans to open Little City Brewing and Provisions Company under the West Condos. More details on this to come soon!
