in The Raleigh Wine Shop Parking Lot
$40 (plus tax) per person
We love pulling friends together from the wine and food world so you can experience how a good pairing can elevate both to a more delectable experience. Having said that, this one has been a long time in the making and we couldn’t be more excited about it. We’re bringing two heavyweights in their fields down to The Raleigh Wine Shop – winemaker extraordinaire André Mack and world renowned Eastern North Carolina barbecue pit master Ed Mitchell.
At $40 per person for exceptional barbecue cooked by the master of the pit bosses and outstanding wine crafted by a master winemaker, this is one of the best dinner deals you will ever find.
André Mack: Master Winemaker
When your resumé includes stints as sommelier at two of the nation’s top restaurants, The French Laundry and Per Se, you can write your own ticket in the wine world. André has done just that, and today he is living his dream of making outstanding, affordable wines.
André is not only one of our favorite winemakers because of his outstanding wine. He also shares our philosophy that wine should not only be viewed as a fancy beverage to open on a special occasion but it can make anything from a humble peanut butter and jelly sandwich to down home Eastern North Carolina barbecue a better meal and a happier day.
Ed Mitchell: Pit Master
A native of Wilson, North Carolina, Ed Mitchell cooked his first whole hog when he was 14 years old. It was the same day that he took his first swig of North Carolina moonshine. As Ed says, it was the day he became a man. In the years since, Ed has become a legendary figure by showing the culinary world that classic North Carolina whole hog barbecue done to perfection deserves a place of respect, appreciation, and a seat at the table along with some of the top cuisines in the world.
It would be easier to list the accolades Ed hasn’t received. From being asked to appear as a guest chef for the prestigious James Beard Foundation to being recognized by The Southern Foodways Alliance as the top Pit Master in North Carolina, when it comes to North Carolina barbecue, he has literally and figuratively written the book.
For this special dinner, we’re putting Ed in the natural environment of a barbecue Pit Master – outside. He’ll be posting up with his son Ryan in our parking lot right next to our building and cooking his classic fare, Eastern North Carolina pulled pork barbecue with the fixin’s. We’ll pop up the banquet tables, and maybe a bit of bluegrass music, and join Ed that evening for an old school North Carolina pig pickin’ while André will be on hand to chat about and help you select your wines – just have one or try them all!
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to meet and dine with these preeminent figures of the gastronomic world. Give us a call at 919.803.5473 or e-mail us to reserve your seat.
